Omunkete Combined School is a government school that was initially established by the ELOC Finnish Missionaries in 1932 in Namibia. During that time no single classroom was constructed, so the school operated under a large ‘Omwandi' tree which can be seen below in the middle. The first building was constructed at the end of 1933. It was made out of mud-bricks and thatched roof. It was then used as a church as well as a school.
